Feliz Starting to Heat Up

When the Phillies signed Pedro Feliz this offseason, nearly everyone figured he’d thrive in the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park.  He had, after all, averaged 21 home runs and 84 RBI in the previous four seasons at the cavernous AT&T Park in San Francisco.  The conventional wisdom was that he would have a legitimate shot at 30 long balls at CBP.

After a terrible April — in which Feliz hit .209/.265/.363 — many began to question if Feliz would be able to live up to their pre-season expectations.  Feliz has bounced back in a big way since May 1st, hitting .333/.362/.533 with four of his seven home runs.  Hopefully this is a sign of things to come during the summer months.  Production, like Feliz has shown recently, out of the seven hole in the lineup could prove invaluable to the Phillies offense.

While Feliz may not reach the lofty expectations of some, I don’t think 25 home runs and 100+ RBI is out of the question, and that’s more than OK with me.
