Myers Set to Return from Assignment
2008 July 16
The Phillies appear to be satisfied with Brett Myers’ minor-league assignment. It is being reported that he will start Friday for single-A Clearwater and then rejoin the team in Miami the following day. That would mean that Myers would likely pitch July 23 against the New York Mets.
Hopefully Myers has turned a corner over the past couple weeks. His numbers — split between Lehigh Valley and Reading — during the assignment have been pretty good — 20.1 IP; 22 K; 3.10 ERA; 1.13 WHIP — but it’s hard to determine if any progress has been made until he is pitching against Major League hitters once again.
