Phils Set to Re-call Happ?
It appears as though the Phillies are going to re-call J.A. Happ from AAA Lehigh Valley. He was pulled from his start yesterday after just 2 2-3 innings of work. Removing a pitcher from a game when he isn’t struggling or hurt almost always indicates a promotion or trade is in the works. Though nothing has been reported officially, the writing is on the wall.
Charlie Manuel reportedly had a closed-door meeting with Adam Eaton and Rudy Seanez following yesterday’s 12-10 victory over Atlanta. I’m not quite sure why Seanez was included in the meeting, as he hasn’t been nearly as bad as Eaton has, but it would appear that one — or both – of them is either being demoted or outright released. The right thing for the Phillies to do is move Brett Myers to the bullpen, put Happ in the rotation and simply release Eaton.
